Driving Safety Tips
Help keep yourself and your family safe with these safety tips:
Parking Lights Aren't For Driving. Never use your parking lights when driving as it tends to distort the other drivers' perception of your speed and distance.
Distance Between Cars. You should always leave as much space as possible between you and the car ahead of you. The "2 second cushion" only works in optimal conditions. Highway driving or inclement weather cause this distance to be often dramatically inadequate.
You're In A Skid. The best way to get control is to remove your foot both from the accelerator and the brake and steer in the direction you wish to go.
Rain...Slow Down...Allow At Least Twice The Normal Following Distance Between Cars. Roads are most slippery during the first half hour of rain as the oil dropped from vehicles has not yet been washed away.
Tire Inflation. Check your owner's manual or the sticker on your door jam for proper tire inflation. Excessive inflation will accelerate wear and damage your tires.
Watch Out For Pedestrians At All Times. Most pedestrian fatalies and injuries are at speeds below 30 miles per hour and over 75% of them occur in urban areas, however, can occur anytime...anywhere.
